Preparing rhinestone templates for Cricut Design Space

Start with the circle SVG

Unzip your pack and choose an individual file from names/. Upload that SVG through Design Space’s image-upload flow. Cricut documents SVGs as vector files with defined cut paths. Keep the operation as a cut; a rhinestone stencil does not need Print Then Cut. The PDF is your review guide, not the file to trace or upload for cutting. Cricut’s SVG upload instructions.

StoneRoster’s name and mat SVGs contain circles only. The names, dimensions and placement labels stay in the PDF and CSV, so those labels do not become extra shapes on your cutting mat.

Confirm scale before cutting

Download the free fit test above, or open calibration.svg from your roster pack. Its reference rectangle must measure 100 × 20 mm in the software. The file’s canvas fits its cut geometry exactly; README.txt lists the overall dimensions for your chosen settings. Check the rectangle itself, then check an individual name’s imported width against its dimensions in roster-proof.pdf.

If you print the calibration page, select Actual size or 100% and measure its 100 mm reference line. The name and mat previews are fitted to the PDF page. Do not resize finished holes to make a name fit: return to the studio and change the width or other design settings, then regenerate.

Use the cutting area, not the mat’s outside size

Cricut lists an 11.5 × 11.5 inch maximum cutting area for the 12 × 12 inch mats covered in its guidance. StoneRoster packs this selection into 292.1 × 292.1 mm. Its 12 × 24 option uses 292.1 × 596.9 mm. Confirm your own machine, material-load selection and usable area before proceeding. Cricut’s mat and material-size guidance.

Keep the holes together

For a packed mat, select the circles that must retain their arrangement and use Attach. Cricut explains that Attach preserves relative cut positions when preparing the mat. Check the final mat preview against your PDF map before starting. A grouped canvas view alone should not be your final placement check. Cricut’s Attach instructions.

If a complex mat upload is rejected, use the individual name files and prepare smaller batches. Keep their original dimensions throughout.

Finish a small material test

Use scrap from your intended flock or template material. Follow its supplier’s blade, mat and cut-setting instructions. Check clean weeding, the measured reference rectangle and how your actual stones settle into the test holes. Then cut and brush one complete name. Keep a few spare stones beyond the exact design count shown in your pack.
